Monmouth took their much anticipated Midwest Conference opener by storm Saturday, rolling to a 9-0 blanking of Ripon on the Red Hawks home court.
The Scots won two of their doubles matches by 8-0 scores as
Dylan Wong and
Landon Walker blanked their No. 1 doubles opponent and the No. 3 team of
Alex Martin and
Joseph Shie followed suit.
Saxon Day and Paul Pleigo took the No. 2 match 8-2.
In singles, Shie at No. 3, Day at No. 5 and No. 6
Zach Harris didn't drop a game in posting 6-0, 6-0 wins. Nos. 1 and 2 - Walker and Wong - each cruised to 6-1, 6-0 wins. Pliego turned in a 6-2, 6-2 straight set win at No. 4 to close out the 9-0 team win.
Monmouth travels to Lake Forest for a 9 a.m. match Sunday.
