Box Score Thomas Van Alstine and
Jeff Knapp scored five goals each as Monmouth broke a three-game slide with a convincing 15-5 win at Concordia (Chicago).
The Scots jumped on top of the Cougars with seven, first quarter goals and never trailed in the game.
Croy Seagren followed Knapp's first goal with two goals of his own as Monmouth led 3-0 less than four minutes into the contest. Knapp has a hat trick by the end of the first period and Van Alstine netted two. Van Alstine added one of his game-high five assists in the second quarter as Monmouth built an 8-0 lead after the first 30 minutes. Monmouth's defense yielded just seven first half shots for CUC en route to outshooting the Cougars 59-24.
Making his second start in goal,
Ian Moles turned aside four shots to even his record at 1-1. Monmouth also won 20 of the game's 23 faceoffs and took advantage of 23 Concordia turnovers.
Monmouth returns home to host Cornell in a noon matchup Saturday at April Zorn Memorial Stadium.
