Box Score Thomas Van Alstine scored less than a minute into overtime to boost Monmouth to a 9-8 win over Marian, keeping the Scots unbeaten in the Midwest Lacrosse Conference.

Van Alstine netted his hat trick goal to cap a back-and-forth match.
Jerry Ivie netted a pair of goals while Van Alstine and
Jeff Knapp scored one each in the first quarter to give Monmouth an early 4-2 lead. The Sabres rallied back with three goals in the second period to knot the game at 5-5 by halftime.

Marian kept the offensive pressure on in the third period with three more scores as Monmouth entered the final quarter trialing 8-6. Knapp then pulled the Scots within one with his third goal of the game just two minutes before
Mitch Perez fed Van Alstine for the game-tying goal.

The Scots won the overtime faceoff and nearly ended the game on
Croy Seagren's shot, but it sailed wide, setting up Van Alstine for the game-winner.

The win moved Monmouth to 4-1 on the season, 2-0 in MLC play. The Scots host Beloit in another league contest next Wednesday at 7 p.m.
