Box Score Monmouth got off to a fast start in Midwest Lacrosse Conference action, taking a 6-2 road win at Fontbonne Wednesday night.

The Scots surrendered the game' first goal, but had a three-goal answers as Jack Koen,
Jeff Knapp and
Braden Cross each scored within a four minute span to give the Scots a 3-1 lead at the end of the first quarter. Defenses ruled in the second 15 minutes as neither team found the cage before the intermission. The Griffins pulled within one early in the third period, but the Scots answered again when
Braden Cross scored his second goal of the game on Joe Incovati's second assist for a 4-2 advantage.
Croy Seagren and
Jerry Ivie then netted fourth period goals just 20 seconds apart as
Chase Cranford logged the win in goal with an eight-save effort.

Monmouth – which outshot Fontbonne 38-14 – also took eight of the game's nine faceoffs and will continue league play Saturday with a 1 p.m. matchup against Marian.
