Box Score For 30 minutes it looked like a near repeat of the Monmouth - Cornell game from last Wednesday when the Scots nearly upended the Midwest Conference co-leaders, but a cold fourth quarter ended the Scots chances with a 71-56 loss.
The Scots fought off a sluggish first half and battled back to trail by just four, 34-30 at the half. The Rams inched ahead in the third quarter after a 3-pointer by
Yvonne Ornelas trimmed the margin to 37-35 in the first minute and
Carley Turnbull's layup kept it a two-point game two minutes later. Cornell climbed ahead by nine just before the end of the period but Ornelas answered with another 3-ball as the Scots pulled within 57-51 heading into the fourth quarter.
Monmouth opened the final frame cutting the margin to just five on a free throw by
Keri Dodson and a
Maddie Dohleman layup. The Rams then countered with a nine unanswered points as the Scots shooting went cold, making just one field goal in the final 10 minutes.
Senior
Tia Robertson paced the Scots with 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field as Monmouth finished the season nearly doubling their win total from a season ago.
