MEN STAY ATOP LEAGUE LEAD ON SENIOR DAY WITH TWO GAMES TO PLAY

Box Score Monmouth stayed in command of the Midwest Conference lead Saturday with an 89-79 Senior Day win over Lawrence at Monmouth's Glennie Gym.
 
Seniors Wesley Grant and Ned Kneller got their first career starts and scored the Scots' first four points on the way to a 38-30 halftime lead. The Scots made over half their shots in the first half and continued to heat up the nets in the second half hitting 19 of 36 shots. A 10-3 run sparked by Justin Aluya's bucket-and-one with 15:44 left in the second half helped push Monmouth's lead to 16 at 53-37 with 14:49 remaining. Enjoying the double-digit lead, the Glennie Gym crowd erupted on Stephon Bobbitt's put-back dunk and ensuing free throw at the 10:40 mark.
 
Led by Aluya's 23 points and Will Jones' 18, the Scots put five in double figures.
 
Monmouth hosts Illinois College Tuedya in a 5:30 p.m. matchup leading the MWC by one game with two games to play.
