SWIMMERS SPLIT DUAL MEET IN JACKSONVILLE

Monmouth's men won by nearly 60 points in Saturday's dual meet at Illinois College while the women were edged 97-89 in the Jacksonville pool.

Freshman Andrew Shie and sophomore Preston Bocchi each picked up a pair of relay wins and two individual wins to lead Monmouth's men. The tandem teamed with Daniel Kadlec and Logan Hoepfner to win the men's meet-opening 400-yard medley relay in 3:52.32, nearly seven seconds faster than the Blueboys. The foursome closed the meet winning by more than three seconds in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:32.27.

Shie added individual wins in the 100 freestyle and the 200 breaststroke. His 100 free time of 50.11 was just under eight-tenths ahead of the runner up. Shie led a 1-2 finish in the 200 breast where he clocked a 2:20.39 and Kyle Jones touched second in 2:28.23.

Bocchi clocked his personal best in winning the 400 individual medley, one of two individual wins as the Scots finished 1-2 in the event. Bocchi touched in 4:28.93 while Kadlec finished in the runner up spot with a 5:02.52. A 2:03.20 placed Bocchi first in the 200 back by nearly 20 seconds.

The men's other wins came from Hoepfner in the 50 free and Rik Doornenbal in the 1000 free where the Scots finished 1-2. Hoepfner tied for first in a dead heat with IC in the 50 when both swimmers touched in 23.39. Doornenbal and Dylan Chiaro were the top two in the 1000 after Doornenbal won in 10:59.78 and Chiaro finished in 11:14.61.

The Scots' women took first in four events as Marissa Logan and Maggie Wingo picked up a relay and individual win. The pair combined with Brittany Lira and Miranda Pasky to win the women's final event, the 200 freestyle relay. The quartet touched in 1:48-flat, nearly four seconds ahead of the Lady Blues.

Logan was the first to touch in the 1000 free, clocking a 12:16.37 to post a nine second win. Wingo won by nearly three seconds in the 200 free with a swim of 2:09.25. Cynthia Johnson joined the duo in the winner's circle, clocking a 1:01.02 in the 100 free for the win.
