The Monmouth College swim team opened their first back-to-back dual meet weekend of the season threatening their home pool records at the Pepper Natatorium Friday night. The Scots' men narrowly fell to Augustana by a mere five points while the Vikings' women used a large number of entries to cruise by Monmouth's women.

Freshman
Andrew Shie just missed setting the pool record in the 100-yard breaststroke. Shie clocked a winning time of 1:00.28, winning by nearly two seconds and finishing just three one-hundredths off the pool record.

Preston Bocchi took first in the 100 backstroke and nearly rewrote the record book in the process. His Monmouth honor roll time of 53.90 was just 19-hundredths off the pool record time.

Monmouth took the top four spots in the men's 500 freestyle.
Rik Doornenbal led the charge, touching in 5:13.51 followed by
Tyler Davis' 5:22.08.
Quentin Bartram placed third in 5:22.82 and
Dylan Chiaro made it all-Monmouth with a 5:37.52 to finish two seconds ahead of the No. 5 finisher.

Davis and Bartram were 1-2 in the 1000 freestyle where Davis posted a winning time of 10:55.42. Bartram finished in 11:03.31, 50 seconds ahead of the third place finisher.

Miranda Pasky led the Scots women with a second and third place finish. The sophomore clocked a 1:14.86 for a runner up finish in the 100 breaststroke, just four seconds off the pace. She took third in the 200 individual medley with a 2:34.16, less than a second out of the No. 2 spot.

Maggie Wingo sprinted her way to a third place finish in the 50 freestyle. Her 26.93 was seven-tenths out of second place.

The Scots hit the road Saturday for a 1 p.m. dual meet at Illinois College.
