Justin Batterton opened the season with a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds. Swift added 17 points and
Tyler Houston chipped in with 10.Â
The Scot trailed 43-42 at the half, but took the lead for good on a Carius bucket-and-one just two minutes into the second half. Monmouth hit nearly 50 percent from the floor and connected on 72 percent of their 40 trips to the free throw line.
The Scots open their home schedule Thursday, Nov. 15 with a 7:30 p.m. contest against MacMurray.
