Monmouth stayed on the brink of the Midwest Conference tournament after Saturday's 1-0 loss at Grinnell.
 
Cadan Glattback's 14 saves kept the Scots in the game until the Pioneers slipped a shot past the Monmouth keeper in the 50^th minute for the only scoring in the game. Grinnell outshot Monmouth 24-14, but could only manage one net-finder.
 
The loss dropped the Scots into sixth in the standings with just two spots yet up for grabs in the final week after St. Norbert and Knox clinched their spots with wins on Saturday. Monmouth hosts Ripon in the regular season finale next Saturday and could grab one of the remaining berths if one of the two teams immediately above them in the standings – Lake Forest and Grinnell – drop their remaining two games.
