WOMEN RELENTLESS IN ROAD LOSS TO FORESTERS

Box Score Monmouth never trailed over the first 10 minutes of the game and stayed within reach in the second half of a 78-68 loss at Lake Forest.

Tia Robertson pumped in a game-high 25 points on 11-of-16 shooting, but the Scots weren't able to hang on after taking an 18-17 first quarter lead. The Foresters inced ahead in the second quarter, taking the lead for good at the 6:52 mark, but the Scots refused to give in. Trailing 36-29 at the half, Robertson opened the third quarter with an inside bucket and Demi Johnson drianed a 3-ball to cut the margin to four in the first minute. Lake Forest then countered stretching their lead to 51-37 with 5:16 to play in the period before the Scots again staged a comeback.

Another layup by Robertson in the final seconds of the third quarter trimmed the deficit to eight at 58-50 before Carley Turnbull and Keri Dodson drained back-to-back threes to open the fourth frame. Robertson's bucket after a Yvonne Ornelas steal cut it to two points, 60-58, with 7:70 remaining, but that would be as close as Monmouth would get as the Foresters iced the game with an 11-2 run.

Turnbull (16) and Johnson (12) joined Robertson in double figures.

Monmouth travels to Lawrence on Saturday for a 3 p.m. matchup.
