Monmouth College's swim team wrapped up their home season with a dominating win over rival Knox Saturday at the college's Pepper Natarorium, combining to win 18 of the 22 men's and women's events.
     The Fighting Scots swept the relays, taking the opening men's and women's 200-yard medley relay and closing the meet with wins in the men's and women's 200 freestyle relay. Preston Bocchi, Logan Hoepfner, Rik Doornenbal and R.L. Aldridge touched first in the men's medley with a 1:47.71 while Kaila Heitter, Michelle Nafziger, Brittany Lira and Emily Mathews took the women's medley, finishing in 2:10.88. Aldridge teamed with Tom Cangelosi, Jake Hall and Riley Hess to close out the men's meet with a time of 1:36.52 in the free relay. Lira and Heitter were joined by Morgan Abraham and Miranda Pasky to end the day with a free relay win after clocking a 1:54.80 to finish five seconds ahead of the runners up.
     Five Scots turned in dual individual wins, highlighted by Rik Doornenbal's personal-best swim in the 100 butterfly. Doornenbal clocked a 56.33 for the win, edging teammate Dylan Chiaro a little more than four seconds. Doornenbal's other win came in the 500 free where he posted a time of 5:16.22.
     Swimming in the final home meet of his career, Cangelosi touched first in the 200 individual medley and the 100 breaststroke. The senior won handily in the 200 IM with a 2:23.29 before taking a five second win over Hess – also a senior – in the breaststroke with a time of 1:04.74.
     Preston Bocchi ruled the 100 and 200 freestyle events, taking the 200 by nearly seven seconds in 1:52.71. His winning margin was four seconds ahead of runner up Hoepfner in the 100 with a time of 48.97.
     Monmouth's women swept the freestyle events where Mathews took the 50 and 100 races. She edged Riley Mann by a little more than two seconds in the shorter race with a 27.52 and out-touched Pasky by less than a second in the 100 with a time of 59.50.
     Abraham picked up her two wins in the 200 and 500 freestyles. She was 10 seconds faster than the runner up in the 500, touching in 6:13.39. Abraham finished the 200 in 2:20.53 to win by eight full seconds.
     The Scots travel to Elsah, Ill., next Saturday for the Panther Invitational hosted by Principia College.
