Box Score Will Jones became Monmouth's No. 5 scorer in the history of the program as Monmouth maintained their hold on second place in the Midwest Conference despite an 85-70 loss to Ripon.
Â
Jones pumped in 22 points – his record-setting 71
st double figure game – and pulled down 10 rebounds in the game with seven ties and seven lead changes in the first half. Ripon pulled ahead for good on a3-pointer with 2:17 left in the first half and never trailed although the Scots kept pace until the final minutes. Facing a 72-55 deficit with 8:13 to play, the Scots rallied on back-to-back layups by Jones and Paul Engo III. Justin Batterton then scored a bucket-and-one followed by a jumper in the lane on his way to a 16-point night to pull the Scots within eight at 74-66 with 5:27 to play. Monmouth stayed in the chase on Lamar Watson's bucket three minutes later to make it 77-70, but that would be as close as the Scots would come.
