Box Score Monmouth won the first two sets by 25-20 scores, but had to battle to edge Beloit on the road 3-2 in the Scots Midwest Conference-opener.

Beloit rebounded to clip the Scots 25-21 in Sets 3 and 4 before Monmouth came through with a 15-11 win in the decisive fifth set. Ashley Farris led the way with 13 kills while Becca Dabrowski added 12. Dabrowski also added a team-high 29 and nine total blocks.

The Scots travel to league power Cornell Tuesday for a 7 p.m. contest before hosting Lawrence and Ripon next weekend.
