Box Score Monmouth rebounded from a close loss Saturday to roll to a convincing win in the nightcap in Mount Pleasant, Iowa.
Playing a pair of matches at Iowa Wesleyan, the Scots easily handled the hosts in the final game, winning 3-0. No set was closer than eight points as the Scots knocked home a .258 hitting percentage, led by
Lauren Sperry's 11 kills and .259 mark.
The win came on the heels of narrow 3-2 loss to Greenville that featured a marathon fifth set. The Panthers took the first two sets before the Scots answered with 25-22 wins in Sets 3 and 4. Playing to the 15-point tiebreaker in the fifth set, Monmouth rallied from a 13-6 deficit before Greenville outlasted the Scots 22-20. The loss came despite three Scots with double digit kills -
Ashley Farris (16),
Becca Dabrowski (13) and
Lauren Sperry (12) - and a 30-dig effort from
Carly Bergerhouse.
