SCOTS RALLY TO HISTORIC FIRST WIN

Box Score Monmouth rallied from an early 3-0 deficit to post their historic first win in program history with Saturday's 17-14 win over visiting Cornell.

Ashley Castellanos scored on a free position shot with 21:46 left in the first half to spark Monmouth's 7-1 run as the Scots climbed back to take a 7-4 lead. Amanda Green's goal with an assist from Kara-Jade Gordon with 12:04 remaining gave Monmouth their first lead at 5-4 and never looked back. Gordon fired in a game-high eight goals on just 10 shots as Monmouth put 24 of their 33 shots on goal.

It was the Scots' best offensive output of the season as six women scored. Green and Castellanos – who in the morning had competed with the track team at the Lee Calhoun Invitational – scored three goals each. Goalkeeper Elizabeth Reasoner turned back six shots to earn her first collegiate win in the cage.

Two games remain for Monmouth, both at home. The Scots host Loras next Saturday at 11 a.m. and finish their inaugural campaign on April 29 against Hamline.
