Selquist Makes 18 Saves in Scots Loss

Despite a season-high and career-high 18 saves from goalkeeper Lea Selquist (Peru, Illinois), the Monmouth College women's lacrosse team lost at Hamline University (2-9, 1-4) on Saturday. The Scots (0-11, 0-5) dropped the game 17-2 and they have two games, both at home, remaining on the season.

Elizabeth Schmidt (Waverly, Iowa) scored her team leading 19th goal of the season for a 1-0 lead with 6:35 to play in the first quarter. The Pipers scored three goals in 80 seconds and led 3-1 after a quarter. They scored three goals in the second quarter and led 6-1 at halftime. 

With the Scots down 11-1,  Mac Homes (Clive, Iowa) scored with 6:335 to play in the third quarter. Hamline pushed the lead back to 10 to get the running clock  and they led 13-2 after three quarters. The Pipers scored all four goals in the final quarter for the 17-2 win and they outshot Monmouth 39-7.

The Scots are next in action on Wednesday, April 26 against St. Benedict at 6 p.m.
