Box Score Monmouth produced a seven-goal second half en route to their best offensive showing this season before falling at Benedictine 18-9.
The Scots' defense held the Eagles to six first half goals as the Scots trailed 6-2 at the break on goals from
Rachael Leifheit and
Ashley Castellanos.
Elizabeth Reasoner turned aside eight shots in the first half to keep the Scots within striking distance.
Leading scorer
Kara-Jade Gordon tallied back-to-back goals early in the second half on her way to a five-goal game as Monmouth posted back-to-back goals three times in the contest. Following Gordon's third goal,
Amanda Green drilled a free position shot at the 6:19 mark of the second half, just minutes before
Makayla Shaw took a Gordon pass for her first score, but the Eagles logged the final two net-finders in the final two minutes to offset Monmouth's efficient offensive effort.
For the second consecutive game, the Scots won the draw control battled 18-7.
The Scots return home for a doubleheader weekend, hosting Beloit on Saturday and Concordia (Wis.) Sunday.
