Box Score Lamont Mitchell poured in 19 points and hauled down 10 rebounds as the Scots and Rams went down to the wire at Cornell before the Rams clipped the scored 73-62.

Neither team led by more than five through the first 20 minutes. Cornell stretched their 29-26 halftime lead to eight with a pair of buckets in the first minute of the second half before Monmouth mounted a charge. Mitchell hit back-to-back buckets adn Will Jones drained a three on his way to a 22-point night as Monmouth narrowed the gap to four. Mitchell made it 37-35 with just under 14 minutes to play and Jon Matthews' steal and layup knotted the game at 37-37. Mitchell then duplicated Matthews' feat and his jumper gave teh Scots a 39-37 lead, the last lead of the night for the Scots.

Leading by single digits, Cornell used a 6-0 run in the final five minutes to open up a 62-47 lead and then held on for the win.

Monmouth will face Lawrence Saturday in a 3 p.m. matchup in Wisconsin.
