Box Score Will Jones joined the exclusive 1,000-point club at Monmouth, but his milestone went for naught in a 91-62 loss to league-leading St. Norbert Saturday at Glennie Gym.
 
Needing just nine points to etch his name in the record books, Jones canned his first bucket early in the first half, but it turned out to be the Green Knights who had the hot hand. St. Norbert raced out to a double-digit lead in the first four minutes and never looked back after hitting 18-of-29 first half shots which included more than half their 3-point attempts. Monmouth found their range midway through the opening 20 minutes and kept pace with the Knights for the final 30 minutes.
 
Jones led the Scots with 16 points to become the 23^rd member of the Scots' men's basketball 1,000-point club. With 1,007 points, he passed 1,000-point scorers John Herman (1985-89) and Robert Richmond (1990-95).
 
Monmouth travels to Mt. Vernon, Iowa, for a Wednesday contest with Cornell. With four games remaining, the Scots and Rams are tied for sixth in the league, three games out of a postseason berth.
