Box Score Monmouth came back from an early deficit on Kara-Jade Gordon's first of three goals but counld't hang on in a 14-4 loss at Dubuque.

Gordon netted her third hat trick in as many games as Monmouth stayed close in the first half. Trailing 9-2, Gordon and Amanda Green scored back-to-back goals in the final four minutes to draw within five at 9-4 at the intermission.

The Scots' defense improved in the second half, allowing just five goals over the final 30 minutes as Rachael Leifheit turned aside 15 shots in goal.

Monmouth will entertain Illinois Tech next Saturday in the Scots' home opener. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
