WOMEN SCORE FIRST IN PROGRAM DEBUT

Box Score Kara-Jade Gordon scored the first goal in Monmouth women's lacrosse history and goalkeeper Elizabeth Reasoner turned aside 18 shots in a season-opening loss in Minnesota.

The University of Northwestern downed the Scots 17-6 in Monmouth's debut game, offsetting a three-goal effort by Gordon. Northwestern took an early 2-1 lead, but the Scots countered on goals by Amanda Green and Ashley Castellanos to take a 3-2 lead with just under 21 minutes left in the first half.

Monmouth's offense stalled in the final 15 minutes of the half and couldn't regain the ground after falling behind 7-4 at the intermission.

The Scots meet Augburg Sunday in a 1 p.m. contest in Minneapolis.
