SCOTS SCORE LIGHTNING QUICK IN HISTORIC WIN

Box Score Taitum Priewe scored the first goal in Monmouth College men's lacrosse history and went on to post a hat trick as the Fighting Scots upended Carroll 9-5 in Saturday's inaugural contest at Monmouth's April Zorn Memorial Stadium.

The Scots scored the first and last goals of the game while outshooting the Pioneers nearly 2-1. After Priewe's goal, the Pioneers came back with two unanswered tallies to take a 2-1 lead early in the second quarter.

Monmouth regained the advantage on Priewe's third goal, an unassisted score with less than 2:00 left in the first half, giving the Scots a 4-3 lead. The Scots added to the lead with three unanswered goals in the second half to open up a 7-3 cushion.

Freshman goalkeeper Jason Kunath recorded the win with a 10-save effort in the season opener.

The Scots will host Elmhurst Tuesday in a 5 p.m. contest at Zorn Stadium.
