Box Score Monmouth held Illinois College to just nine points in the first quarter and eight in the fourth to clip the Lady Blues 68-54 for their second win in as many games.
Four Scots scored in double figures as the Scots opened up a nine-point second quarter lead on
Jeni Crain's layup, but the Lady Blues responded, taking the lead briefly in the final minute before
Rebecca Gallis drained a pair of free throws to give Monmouth a 29-28 halftime lead.
IC came out firing in the second half, building a lead of eight with 1:56 to play in the third quarter. Monmouth countered with a 24-0 run, taking a 48-46 lead at the end of the frame on
Yvonne Ornelas' 3-pointer.
Monmouth continued their barrage in the fourth quarter, running out to a 56-46 lead midway through the period on Crain's three. The Scots then poured it on stretching the lead to 16 at 62-46 on a Gallis bucket inside.
Gallis pumped in a team-high 20 points for the Scots while Crain came off the bench to net 11,
Keri Dodson added 14 and
Demi Johnson scored 10.
Monmouth will wrap up the season Saturday, hosting Cornell at 1 p.m.
