Box Score The Fighting Scots were just a possession away from knocking off conference tournament contender Lawrence Saturday afternoon, but dropped a 68-65 decision on the road.

Monmouth battled back from 15 down early in the second half to push the Vikings over the final 10 minutes. Lamont Mitchell's 3-pointer began an 8-2 Monmouth run as a three from Jon Matthews cut the margin to seven at 41-34. The Scots kept chipping away, eventually tying the game at 53-53 with 6:15 to play on one of 16 free throws by Justin Aluya. Lawrence countered with a shot from beyond the arc to regain a lead they would not relinquish.

The Scots stayed within a single possession over the final three minutes, cutting the margin to one, three times in tne final 67 seconds. The Vikings held off the Scots making 4-of-4 free throws in the final 28 seconds.

Monmouth hits the road for Illinois College Tuesday for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
