Box Score Monmouth moved to 3-0 in Midwest Conference play, holding of Knox at Glennie Gym Wednesday night 81-70.
 
The Scots broke free with a pair of second half runs as Lamont Mitchell dialed in 29 points and Will Jones poured in 20. After a back-and-forth first half, the Scots found themselves trailing 45-44 early in the second half. Mitchell's layup with 16:06 remaining sparked a 14-2 run before the Prairie Fire could rally. Knox answered with their own run – a 13-3 run – to pull within two at 62-60 with 5:36 left to play. Monmouth maintained the lead on a Justin Batterton basket and then began another run in the final minute, hitting 12 of 16 free throws – Mitchell canned all eight of his 'throws – in the final 1:20 to hold off the Fire.
 
Monmouth will resume league play Dec. 18 at Illinois College where they'll meet the Blueboys at 5:30 p.m.
