RALLY FALLS JUST SHORT IN MWC CONTEST

Box Score Monmouth's valiant effort came up just short in a 76-71 loss to Lake Forest Wednesday night.
 
Fueled by Will Jones' 22 point effort, the Scots rallied from 12 down with 2:01 to play forcing the Foresters to hit 6-of-8 free throws in the final minute to preserve the win. Lamont Mitchell's 3-pointer at the 1:44 mark trimmed the Scots' deficit to single digits at 68-59. Jones then canned a pair of free throws and a three to make it a nine-point game before Paul Engo hit a shot from beyond the arc to make it a five point margin at 72-67.
 
After a pair of Forester free throws, Justin Aluya and Jones it inside jumpers trimming the Forester lead to 74-71. Lake Forest then hit their final two free throws in the last six seconds to hold off the Scots.
 
Monmouth hosts Lawrence Saturday at 3 p.m. at Glennie Gym.
