Box Score Monmouth improved their defense in the second half Thursday night, but couldn't dig out of a first half hole in a 6-0 loss at Dubuque.

The Spartans scored three early goals en route to a 5-0 halftime lead before the Scots' defense clamped down in the second half. In the final 45 minutes the Scots limited the Spartans to just half their total shots from the first half, allowing jsut one late goal.

The Scots open their home season Saturday with a 5 p.m. match against Millikin.
