Box Score Monmouth found their offense and the goal in Thursday's 3-0 win over Cornell in the Midwest Conference opener for both teams.
 
Newcomer Martin Zafirov scored the Scots' first goal of the season, taking a feed from Agustin Miranda and slipping it past the Rams' keeper in the 30^th minute. Monmouth held Cornell to just one first half shot and entered halftime with a 1-0 lead.
 
The Rams' defense tightened in the final 45 minutes, but the Scots managed an insurance goal when Justin Seeley set up Romahn Clark for his first goal of the season in the 71^st minute. Lucas Sondgeroth deposited the clincher on an unassisted tally in the 83^rd minute as Monmouth outshot the rams 8-3.
 
The Scots are off until a Sept. 24-25 road trip to Ripon and St. Norbert.
