Emily Siefken got the second quarter rally started with a free throw in the first minute as the Scots outscored the hosts 22-17 in the period. Two more Siefken free throws and a bucket in the final 1:30 of the half was followed by a
Keri Dodson 3-pointer in the final seconds as Monmouth trimmed the margin to 37-24 by intermission.

After the Pioneers opened the second half with a layup, the Scots'
Tia Robertson sank a pair of free throws to keep Monmouth within 13 before Grinnell opened up the offense.

Monmouth made one last rally midway through the fourth quarter when back-to-back 3-pointers by
Kelsey Walsberg and
Katie Houston began an 8-1 run, cutting the Scots' hole to 12 at 63-51 with 4:14 left in the game. Grinnell answered with a bucket of their own and forced a turnover on the Scots' next possession to maintain the double-digit lead.

Houston led the Scots with 17 points while Robertson added 16 and Walsberg chipped in with 10.
