Box Score Lights out shooting from beyond the arc (10-for-21) was not quite enough to lift Scots over the Buccaneers in game two of the conference double header as Beloit prevailed in overtime 93-87.
 
Kelsey Walsberg was the hot hand for the Scots in the opening half of play scoring 11 points, including a trio of 3-pointers from deep.
 
Senior foul trouble called for senior reinforcement as Emily Siefken came off the bench to haul in six boards and score five points in the first half.
 
Early in the second quarter, the Scots would push their lead to 12 on a three by Allison Todd.
 
The Scots controlled the glass, 27-21 rebounding, and managed to force nine Buccaneer turnovers heading into the break up 37-31.
 
Second half play began with the Scots quickly extending their lead on a Tia Robertson layup to put Monmouth up eight at 39-31 before Beloit began to chip away.
 
Fueled by Laura Panicali's 35 point performance, including the game tying shot in the paint with 10 seconds left in regulation, the Buccaneers would rally to force overtime.
 
Beloit would not trail in the extra five minutes, pushing their lead to nine and forcing five Monmouth turnovers before the final buzzer sounded.
 
The Scots move to 3-13 in Midwest Conference play and will head to Jacksonville, Ill., to take on the Illinois College Lady Blues in a midweek matchup next Wednesday before closing the season at home Saturday against Lawrence.
