Box Score Lamont Mitchell's 3-pointer with 4:18 left in the game forged the seventh tie in a game that saw a dozen lead changes, but the Scots were not able to get on top in the final minutes, falling at Illinois Tech 66-62.
 
Mitchell's trey – one of his four 3-pointers on the way to a team-high 20 points – capped a Scots rally from seven points down at the 7:42 mark. The Hawks' 59-52 lead was their largest of the night as neither team could gain a double digit advantage.
 
Illinois Tech eased to a 65-60 lead with 1:29 left before the Scots' Will Jones drained a three with 17 seconds remaining make it a one possession game. The Hawks iced the win 10 seconds later sinking the first of two free throws for a 66-62 edge.
 
Monmouth returns to Midwest Conference play next Wednesday, hosting Lake Forest for a 7:30 p.m. matchup at Glennie Gym.
