Box Score Monmouth slipped to 1-1 in Midwest Conference play after Ripon hit the go-ahead bucket with two seconds left in a 79-76 win at Glennie Gym.

The Fighting Scots built a 45-34 first half lead on 50 percent shooting from the floor and upped the lead to a dozen on
Justin Aluya's bucket in the lane at the outset of the second half on his way to a 22-point night. Ripon rallied back, cutting the margin to one at 49-48 on a pair of free throws at the 12 minute mark. Aluya's dunk and free throw then ignited a Monmouth rally as the Scots regained a 12-poitnlead on an Aluya jumper to make it 71-59 with just over four minutes left.

The Red Hawks put together one last run after a
Will Jones free throw with 3:15 remaining gave the Scots a 74-62 lead. Ripon put together a 15-2 run over the next three minutes taking the lead with 11 seconds left.

Trailing 79-76 with four-tenths of a second left, the Scots weren't able to get a shot off before the buzzer from a sidecourt inbounds play.

Aluya's 22 points led four Scots in double figures as Jones recorded a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Monmouth will host Beloit Saturday at 3 p.m.
