Box Score Monmouth rallied from 17 down with 7:00 to play before falling in overtime 81-80 against Kalamazoo College in a game played at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn.
 
Lamont Mitchell hit back-to-back buckets to key the Scots' second half rally. Austin Holman then hit a free throw and Paul Engo III canned a 3-pointer as Monmouth trimmed the Hornets' lead to nine at 63-54 in a span of less than two minutes. With just under three minutes left in regulation, Mitchell drained a pair of free throws and, following a Hornet turnover, nailed a 3-pointer to knot the game at 67-all. Two free throws from Will Jones completed the 10-0 run to give the Scots the lead for the first time in the game with 1:44 left. Kalamazoo's layup with 68 seconds left tied the game as the teams headed to overtime.
 
The Scots fell behind early in the extra session when back-to-back buckets put the Scots in a 74-69 hole. Monmouth had one last answer when Mitchell scored three more of his team-high 27 points on a layup-and-one. Following Mitchell's old-fashioned three-point play, Monmouth regained the lead on back-to-back steals and buckets by Engo for a 79-76 advantage. Trailing 80-79 with 10 seconds left, the Hornets hit their final shot and held on for the 81-80 win.
 
Monmouth returns to action Dec. 30 when they travel to Illinois Tech.
