Box Score Monmouth battled back from an early deficit before falling 93-77 to the University of Chicago Saturday afternoon at Rhodes College.
 
Trailing 46-35 to open the second half, the Scots chipped away and cut a 17-point deficit at the 17:42 mark to single digits on Will Jones' 3-pointer with 14:38 to play. A Jones' steal followed by Cam Sturtevant's layup and a bucket in the lane by Justin Aluya trimmed the Chicago lead to seven at 62-55 with 12:43 left.
 
UC answered, piecing together an 11-4 run to hold the Scots at bay for the final 10 minutes.
 
Lamont Mitchell paced the Scots with a team-high 21 points and 10 rebounds while Jones added 19 and Aluya 11.
 
Monmouth meets Kalamazoo at noon Sunday for the Scots' get-away game at Rhodes.
