Box Score Monmouth's Will Jones hit two free throws with eight seconds left to ice a 68-63 win at Lawrence Saturday afternoon, keeping the Scots in the hunt for a postseason berth.
 
Jones' clinching 'throws came in a game in which neither team could pull away. The Scots began to inch ahead late as Reed Goodbred scored two of his 14 points in the paint with 2:30 left to give Monmouth a 63-56 lead. Lawrence battled back, cutting the margin to one at 64-63 with a 3-pointer as the Vikings forced three turnovers in a 60-second span.
 
Following a Monmouth timeout, Jones hit his final field goal of the day on the way to a game-high 21 points, pushing the Scots to a 66-63 lead with 22 seconds left before hitting the clinching free throws on the Scots' next possession.
