Box Score The Fighting Scots extinguished the Prairie Fire in a 78-61 home victory to stay in the hunt for a Midwest Conference Tournament berth. Led by a balanced attack on both ends, the Scots managed to outscore and outrebound the Prairie Fire.

The first half set the tone for the Scots who thrived on the defensive end of the floor. Forcing 12 turnovers and controlling the boards at a 19-9 stint, proved to be a successful plan for Monmouth. From the floor, the Scots scored at a 50 percent rate to finish the half with 32-25 lead.

Ben Friday secured the air in the first half, blocking multiple Prairie Fire shots and hauling in nine rebounds. To add to his efficiency underneath, Friday tossed in 7 points to lead all big men.

In the second half of action, the Scots capitalized on transition opportunities scoring ten points on the run. Knox turnovers produced points on the other end for the Scots, posting 24 points off of the Prairie Fire mistakes.

Jon Calhoun controlled the back court, combining for 26 points, 7 assists, and 11 rebounds.

Domination inside continued as the Scots wrapped up the night scoring 38 points in the paint to Knox's 20.

The Fighting Scots (10-6, 7-5) will stay at home this weekend hosting a pivotal rematch with Lake Forest College (9-7, 7-5) at 2 p.m. Saturday. Monmouth remains in fifth place, a game back in the conference chase behind the Foresters.
