SCOTS HOLD OFF RIPON FOR ROAD WIN

Box Score Another road trip to Wisconsin proved to be worth the drive for the Fighting Scots  won back-to-back road games for the first time this season. Led by senior Katie Houston's 29 points, the Scots hung on to win 72-68 at Ripon College as four different Scots posted double digits in the scoring column.

From the start, the Fighting Scots played with an unmatched intensity and quickly jumped out to a 36-28 first half lead. Houston's hot night started early as she poured in 17 points in the first half to give the Scots an eight point lead, heading into the break.

In the second half, Kelsey Walsberg and Kerri Dodson made some noise and put double digits on the board for Monmouth with 13 and 14 points, respectively. The Scots would finish the game winning the battle of the boards and posted a better field goal percentage at 43.4 percent, including 45.5 percent from 3-point range.

Ripon managed to outscore the Scots in the paint, off  turnovers, and second chance points but it wasn't enough to push past a motivated Monmouth squad.

Before the final buzzer sounded, the lead would change hands 16 different times, including three ties.

A pair of Emily Watkins free-throws with only seconds on the clock sealed the deal for the Fighting Scots who knocked off Ripon in the late-afternoon Midwest Conference game. Watkins joined Houston, Walsberg and Dodson in double figures with who 10 points and  eight boards.

The Fighting Scots (3-12, 2-8) will take to the road for the third consecutive weekend as they head to St. Norbert College January 23rd for a 3 p.m. game.
