Box Score Monmouth held high-scoring Alma to half their early season average, but came up just short at the end, falling 2-1.
 
Alma broke the ice in the defensive game, scoring in the 39^th minute to take an early lead. Monmouth countered in the second half when Justin Seeley hit Zeb Soignier on a breakaway in the 52^nd minute. Soignier's first goal of the season knotted the match at 1-1.
 
Neither team was able to break the defense after Soignier's score until Alma's Evan Shrikey lofted a shot over Chase Stroud for the tie-breaker with 10 minutes left.
 
Monmouth's offense then pressed forward, but couldn't make good on a Corner Kick with the clocking running out.
 
The teams combined for just six shots in the contest, all on goal.
