Box Score Monmouth broke loose in the second half of an 85-65 win over Illinois College for the Scots' Senior Night at Glennie Gym.
 
Leading 45-34 at the half, the Scots began to pull away early in the second 20 minutes when Will Jones hit a pair of free throws and Reed Goodbred drained a three for a 54-37 lead. Monmouth maintained the double digit lead for the entire half, stretching the lead to 21 at the 4:14 mark on a 3-pointer from senior Chad Thompson.
 
The Scots got off to a slow start as the teams traded the lead seven times in the game's first 15 minutes. Jones' layup and a pair of threes from Thompson and Riley Blea sparked the Scots in the final minutes of the first half. After IC pulled within one at 35-34 with 2:30 left in the half, the Scots scored 10 unanswered points to close out the half.
 
Andrew Mathison led with a game-high 17 points on 8-of-12 shooting and Jones added a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
 
The Scots wrap up the regular season Saturday at Lawrence before traveling to St. Norbert the following weekend for the Midwest Conference Tournament.
