Women rally, but fall short in MWC game at Glennie for first time this season

Box Score Monmouth's home Midwest Conference winning streak ended at seven straight after the Scots fell to Cornell Tuesday night.

After the Scots' Kathleen Forrest hit the first shot of the game, the Rams drained a three and never trailed to win 82-72. Monmouth nearly erased a 17-point first half deficit with a strong second half.

Trailing by 10, 61-51 with 8:51 left in the game, Kelsey Walsberg nailed a 3-pointer on her way to a game-high 27 points, and Katie Houston followed with a pair of free throws on the next possession to trim the margin to 61-56. Two more free throws from Ally Friday pulled Monmouth to within three at 61-58 with 8:14 left, but that was as close as the Scots would get.

The loss dropped Monmouth into a tie for sixth in the Midwest Conference, two games back on the loss side of a tournament berth with three games to play.
