Monmouth dropped a 62-60 decision to Cornell at Glennie Gym, but still clinched a Midwest Conference Tournament berth for the first time since 1999.

Trailing for the first 30 minutes, the Rams heated up in the second half to erase a double-digit deficit Midwest through the second half. The teams traded the lead down the stretch before Cornell climbed ahead by seven on Grant Anderson's 3-pointer with 1:53 to play.

Jon Calhoun answered with a three of his own and then sank a pair of free throws on the next possession to close the gap to 61-59. Calhoun then made it a one-point game, hitting the backend of a two-shot foul with :22 left on the clock.

After back-to-back turnovers by the Rams and Scots, Cornell's Anderson made the first of two free throws with :09 left, but Monmouth couldn't get off a shot after pulling the defensive board.

The loss dropped Monmouth into a three-way tie for second with Ripon and Grinnell in the MWC with three games left to play.
