Box Score The Scots valiant fight came up short in Saturday's Midwest Conference match-up in Glennie Gym falling to Carroll University 75-57.
The Pioneers hot shooting helped them pull away from the Scots in the second half, hitting more than half their shots. Monmouth led after the first quarter 17-16, but the Pioneers began to click over the next 10 minutes, taking a 39-30 halftime lead. Monmouth point guard
Keri Dodson led the way in scoring during the first half with seven points. She chipped in four assists and three rebounds to keep the Scots within single-digits heading into the break. The rebounding battle favored the Scots 22-19 as the first half buzzer sounded.
Scoring evened out in the second half, for the Scots, as
Emily Watkins and
Kelsey Walsberg pitched in eight points apiece, but the Pios heated up to stave off a Monmouth comeback.
The turnover battle proved to be the difference as Carroll managed to limit their turnovers to 13, while the Scots posted 26.
Dodson finished off the game for the Scots with 19 points, 3 rebounds, and 5 assists.
The Scots will play host to Augustana College in a 7 p.m. non-conference game Monday December 7
th, at 7pm.
