SCOTS SINK BUCCANEERS IN SECOND HALF

Box Score It was only fitting that Will Jones' 3-pointer with 11:37 left in the game gave Monmouth the lead for good in an 84-80 win at Beloit.

Jones pumped in a game-high 29 points in the game that saw 15 lead changes and eight ties. Beloit twice climbed to eight-point leads in the first half, but the Scots refused to go away, trailing by one, 39-38 at the half.

Riley Blea's steal and layup to open the second half quickly gave the Scots' the advantage in a back-and-forth second half. Neither team could gain more than a three-point lead until Jones' bucket started a 22-8 run. A Jones' bucket-and-one with 8:58 left put the Scots ahead 65-55 for the first double-digit lead of the game by either team.

Monmouth's lead grew to 13 on Justin Aluya's layup with 5:15 to play as the Scots held off the Bucs in the final minute by sinking five free throws. Beloit canned a 3-pointer with a second left to trim their losing margin to four.

Paul Engo, III and Matt Juhola each came off the bench to add 10 points each as Monmouth hit 30 of their 55 shots from the floor.
