Box Score An upset was not in the cards for the Fighting Scots who were unable to pull off the victory against defending conference champion, St. Norbert, dropping the contest at Glennie Gym 75-51.
Leading 16-11 at the end of the first quarter, St. Norbert opened the second frame with a 9-1 run to open the gap to 27-12. The Scots fought back from a 32-15 hole midway through the quarter as
Katie Houston scored six of her game-high 19 points in a two minute span as the Scots found themselves trailing 40-27 at the intermission.
The Knights – who shot nearly 50% from the field and 45% from behind the arc in the first half – kept up the pressure in the second half, increasing their lead to 52-22 midway through the third quarter. Led by Regan Carmichael's team-high 15 points, the Knights managed to fight off any Scots attempt at the lead.
Houston added seven boards and six assists for the Scots in the losing effort. found themselves continually trying to chip away at a St. Norbert lead. Sophomores
Tia Robertson and
Kelsey Walsberg combined for 16 points.
The Scots (1-4) make the trip to Galesburg next week to face the Knox College Prairie Fire on Wednesday night before coming back to the confines of Glennie Gymnasium for a match up against Carroll University Saturday afternoon.
