Box Score Monmouth came out rolling in
Kyle Wilson's first game as head coach, giving visiting Millikin all they could handle before falling 76-63.

Kelsey Walsberg and senior
Katie Houston got the offense started in the first half combining for 21 of the team's 33 points. Walsberg rained home four of her seven 3-point attempts in the first half alone. The battle for the boards was nearly even as the Scots managed to pull down 20 rebounds to Millikin's 19 over the first 20 minutes.
On the defensive end of the court, the Scots managed to force 11 turnovers and hold Big Blue to 31 points in the first half. Controlling the boards and limiting turnovers proved to be the formula for success for the Scots 33-31 first half lead.
In the second half, senior Millikin forward Alyssa Saklak proved to be a mismatch for the Scots, finishing the game with 30 points and nine rebounds in 35 minutes.
Millikin won the turnover battle for the game, forcing the Scots into 24 takeaways. The rebounding margin flipped in the second half, as Big Blue grabbed 41 for the game to the Scots 35.
For the Fighting Scots, Walsberg and
Tia Robertson led the way in scoring for the night with 21 and 15, respectively. Houston's efficient 36 minutes of play produced an additional 11 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists.
Keri Dodson pitched in with 12 points and 5 assists to round out the Scots' scoring.
The Scots will play at the Hope Tip-Off Tournament Friday and Saturday before opening Midwest Conference action at home with the Pioneers of Grinnell on November the 24
th.
