SCOTS AND BLUEBOYS PLAY TO RAIN-SOAKED DRAW

Box Score Monmouth and Illinois College battled the elements and each other in a 1-1 double overtime stalemate Tuesday afternoon at Peacock Memorial Athletic Park.

Playing in a steady drizzle, the grueling back and forth action showed no signs on the scoreboard until the 87th minute of the match. Off of a free kick, Illinois College was able to sneak a shot underneath Monmouth's wall of defenders. After ricocheting off of feet, IC's Jordan Blair redirected the ball as it trickled across the goal line for the goal of the match.

Moments later, the Scots were able to answer.

With only seconds left in regulation, a well angled pass  from Justin Seeley led to a wide open lane and Max Daniels was able to strike it past the keeper and push the game into overtime.

The drizzle turned to rain in the  overtime periods as each team threatened, but neither was able to net the game-winner.

Monmouth College moves to 3-5-1 in Midwest Conference play and IC slips to 3-4-2.

The Fighting Scots head up north to Lawrence University for their last match of the season this Saturday.
