Box Score Monmouth's defense was able to fend off 11 first half shots, but Lake Forest found the net twice to defeat the Scots 2-0 Saturday afternoon in suburban Chicago.
 
The Foresters struck near halftime and late in the match to outlast a strong defensive effort by the Scots. Monmouth kept Lake Forest at bay by forcing low percentage shots for most of the 90 minutes.
 
Following the Foresters' first goal, the Scots quickly countered, but Connor Oltman's rip to tie the game in the next two minutes hit the crossbar. The Scots fired off six shots – four in the second half – but none found the back of the net.
 
The Scots continue their road trip Sunday with a stop at Carroll.
