Box Score Monmouth hit their free throws and never trailed in a 74-68 win over Lake Forest at Glennie Gym Saturday afternoon.
 
The Scots raced out to a seven point lead in the first three minutes and increased their margin to 10 in the first half when Emily Watkins scored inside to give Monmouth a 32-22 with 2:41 left in the half. Lake Forest then clamped down and held Monmouth scoreless for the rest of the half to cut Monmouth's lead to 32-28 at intermission.
 
The Foresters stayed close in the second half, knotting the score twice in the final seven minutes. Tied 57-57 with 6:25 to go, Monmouth forced the Foresters into three straight turnovers and took an eight point lead on a pair of Paige Nord free throws with 3:29 left. The Scots then went 9-of-10 from the line in the final 1:54 to hold off the Foresters.
 
Kelsey Walsberg led the Scots with 18 poitns while Nord added 15 on 7-of-8 free throw shooting and Ally Friday came off the bench to add 10.
