In their first meet in over a month the Monmouth College swim team sank Knox in a men's and women's dual meet Saturday.
R.L. Aldridge picked up three individual wins for Monmouth. Aldridge won by more than a second in the 50-yard freestyle (24.04). His winning margin was less than three one-hundredths of a second in the 100 free where he clocked a 52.53. He outlasted the competition in the 100 breaststroke for his final win, swimming a 1:11.20.
Riley Hess nearly matched Aldridge's performance, winning the 200 freestyle and the 100 butterfly. Hess won the fly by more than a half second in 59.03. His margin was nearly 12 seconds in the free where he touched in 1:59.64.
Sarah Lang turned in the women's lone two-win performance. Her 2:06.45 in the 200 free was nearly six seconds ahead of the runner up. She also took first in the 100 free with a time of 58.74.
Two Scots posted personal-bests to win the 1,000 freestyle.
Corine Allen took first for the women in 11:54.76. Her time was more than 30 seconds faster than the nearest competitor.
Sebastian Hernandez posted the winning time for the men with a 10:47.41 to win by less than two seconds.
Other Monmouth wins for the women came from
Clarissa Henby in the 200 IM (2:23.68),
Erin Willhite in the 100 backstroke (1:07.16) and
Cassidy O'Connell in the 100 breaststroke (1:13.59).
On the men's side, firsts came from
Ryan Sterling in the 200 IM (2:13.39) and Julius Bradfield in the 100 back (1:00.96).
Monmouth swept the relays where O'Connell, Willhite, Henby and
Morgan Bruess opened the meet with a win in the 200 medley, swimming a 1:58.44. Sterling and Bradsfield were joined by
Neal Hosper and
Andrew Domkuski to touch first in the men's 200 medley with a 1:46.97.
Henby, Lang and Willhite were joined by
Claire Woodrow to clock a winning time of 1:47.14 in the 200 free relay.
Cristian Corbett swam with Domkuski, Hess and Bradsfield to win the men's 200 free relay in 1:34.51.
Monmouth will travel to Elsah, Ill., next weekend for the Principia Invitational.
